CHAKWAL: At least 22 persons were injured in crossfire between two religious groups in Choa Saidan Shah on Sunday, where eight people were injured in armed clashes on Saturday.
A complete strike was observed on Sunday and all markets were closed to protest against the negative attitude of administration. The city was handed over to the Rangers, who started patrolling in the city.
Police arrested more than 60 people of both sects while a case had been registered against more than 200 activists from both sides. The rival groups also burnt vehicles and different shops. Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer Hamid Mukhtar Gondal visited Choa Saidan Shah and suspended SHO Badr Munir, while DPO Ali Mohsin appointed Inspector Afzal as the new SHO of Choa Saiden Shah police station.
