Photos: express/Internet CHAKWAL:  The fossils remains of Deinotherium (“Terrible beast”) have been discovered during an excavation at village Lava district of Chakwal. The fossils are reportedly 14 million years old and belong to the primitive animal species which had lower denture with undistributed set of teeth attached to the gums. This terrible beast is known to have survived between the Miocene epoch (from 25 million to 13 million years ago; appearance of grazing mammals) to the Pleistocene epoch (from two million to 11 thousand years ago; extensive glaciation of the northern hemisphere; the time of human evolution). Its ancestors or descendants can not yet be ascertained due to unavailability of fossil records with which a chain of identification could be testified. PML-N MNA denies sexual assualt charges: ISLAMABAD - Ayaz Amir, member of the National Assembly from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, has rejected sexual assault allegations made against him by Fouzia Behram, a Pakistan People’s Party member of the Punjab Assembly. Amir told Online that his political rivals were trying to damage his reputation by propagating that he had sexually assaulted a girl. “There is no substance to whatever allegation is being leveled against me. The victim has no medical evidence or witness to support her claim,” he said. Earlier, Behram, the alleged victim and her family had claimed at a press conference at the National Press Club that Amir had subjected the 14-year-old girl to sexual assault, and also accused the Chakwal Police of threatening the affected family with dire consequences. Yellow Taxicab Scheme Launched in Punjab, BOP Chakwal Br. invites applications

Yellow Cab Scheme Government of Punjab has launched Yellow Taxicab Scheme for the unemployed people of province. 20,000 taxis will be distributed among qualified applicants. 40 percent quota has been allocated for 11 districts of Southern Punjab. Transparency of this project will be ensured by provincial government through computerized balloting in the presence of media. According to details, 2500 taxis will be distributed every month so the total 20,000 taxis will be distributed in a period of eight months. Punjab Cabinet has approved Yellow Cab Scheme. Suzuki Mehran VX and Suzuki Bolan VX in green and black colors would be given to the eligible applicants on easy installments. Also in the first PML-N government, Yellow Cab Scheme was introduced for the unemployed youth. TMA chakwal to increase tariffs 2011-12

CHAKWAL, April 7: The Tehsil Municipal Administration is all set to increase tariffs on different services. Water, parking, security of shops and bus stand fees are likely to be raised by 100 per cent. In a public notice, the TMA said to meet the expenses it had decided to revise the tariff rates. Tehsil Municipal Officer Qammar Zeeshan said there was a sharp disparity between the income and expenditure of the civic body. “We provide services to the people on the basis of ‘no profit no loss’ but we are bearing a big loss as the services we provide to the masses cost more than 10 million compared to the income which is less than 0.4 million,” he said. A sub-committee has been set up in this regard to which objections can be submitted by April 14. After hearing the objections till April 16, the committee will send its recommendations in to the higher authorities.
