Nusrat Bhutto is no more

KARACHI - Pakistan’s former first lady, Begum Nusrat Bhutto died Sunday afternoon at Iranian Hospital in Dubai where she was brought under critical condition a day earlier. The 82-year-old lady, whose husband and daughter both served as prime ministers of Pakistan, had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for the last many years and had been staying in the Gulf state for the last 10 years. Begum Nusrat was the first member of ZAB family who died on a hospital bed. She witnessed the traumatic hanging of his prime minister husband Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and violent deaths of her two sons Shahnawaz Bhutto, Murtaza Bhutto and daughter Benazir Bhutto. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani announced 10-day national mourning and a public holiday today (Monday) to mourn Begum Nusrat’s death. He also cancelled all his political engagements. Sharif brothers plotting to break Electoral College of Senate: Babar Awan

  Addressing a press conference at the People’s Secretariat here, Babar Awan said, “after the martial law of General Zia who dissolved the Senate, this is a very serious attack on the country’s democratic process”. He said that this was the first time in the history of country when unfortunately a democratically elected representative demanded to dissolve a constitutional institution which was a symbol of Federation. This is the only unit in which representatives are elected on the equality basis from all provinces of the country, he added. “If this assertion is false, the Punjab government should shun the turn-coats and a reference under article 6 of the constitution should be moved by the speaker of Punjab Assembly against the person who floated this idea,” Babar said, adding that this idea was an attack on smaller provincial units. Punjab Assembly

Punjab Provincial Assembly is the elected assembly of Punjab. The Assembly was established under Article 106 of the Constitution of Pakistan. It is located in Lahore There are three main functions performed by the Assembly viz a viz, legislation, management of public money and policy making. After the first meeting of the Assembly, the members take an oath. The Assembly elects, from amongst its members, a Speaker and a Deputy Speaker. After the election of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker, the Assembly cannot transact any other business unless it elects the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister is elected in a special session, summoned by the Governor on a day specified by the President. The Chief Minister obtains vote of confidence from the Assembly within 60 days of assuming office. There are a total of 371 seats in the Punjab Assembly. Of these, 297 are filled by direct elections. Dhudial is a village and union council, an administrative subdivision, of Chakwal District in the Punjab Province of Pakistan, it is part of Chakwal Tehsil. It is one of the largest villages of Chakwal District and is located at  70 km south of the capital Islamabad.

The importance of resumption of this service and extending it to salt range in Kallar Kahar area will bring significant commercial advantages for the region as the cement factories in the area can use rail for their merchandise.
